Step Board Frenzy!
If you didn't know over the summer we sold our Wii. Money and all that jazz. It has really been hard to exercise without it. I had been walking with friends. Then we all started flaking out and it stopped working. So Marc being the cool amazing engineer that he is built us each a step board. They are made out of wood. We are now doing step board. We are hoping to do it each night. I am still under 190. I hope by doing step board it will be fun and I'll keep dropping weight. Plus I only have one pair of jeans left that fit me. So I need to get into my smaller pants. Funny how I have a ton of the smaller sizes. Good luck over the Holidays and don't gain too much weight!

exciting update!
So I have been walking with my friends for the past two months. We don't go too far, but it's fun to talk and walk. Anyway... I have been doing laundry and had no clean pants so I dug into my box of smaller clothes thinking maybe I could find something. Well my size 14 pants fit! :) I was very excited! And for the first time since Kate was born I'm now under 190! I am hoping to keep it going down! Yay! It was a fun surprise to fit into smaller pants! Walking is working!

The 5k!
We did the 5k and did our best! We jogged about a 1/3 of it or 1/2 don't really know. But we did jog and hard! We did it in 44 minutes. :) We are doing another 5k next month and next year a half marathon. :) I am going to dream big and say we are going to do it... because we will! Do or do not there is no try!

Yeah for progress!
This week has been awesome! We walked 5 days and then hiked on Friday. The hike was over 6 miles and the walks were about 3.5 miles each! Then on Saturday..... drum roll please.... I could fit into smaller pants and so could Marc! The pants were an inch or so too small and they fit! Yeah! I haven't weighed myself for awhile, but can't really... we sold our wii. Anyway... the walking is working! And the 5K is this Saturday and Marc and I are signed up and so are Holly and Sara. We are going to do the 5k and then rush to a family reunion right after! I am excited that we are going to complete a goal!

5K here we come!
Next month we are going to enter a 5k! I am so excited! It's in Mona, Ut and we get to go through the lavender fields. It will be a lot of fun and hard work. We went walking today for 3.5 miles and jogged a 1/4 mile of it. We didn't want to push too hard since the break with all the rain. We are planning on going as much as possible so we will be ready for the 5k. I'd like to jog 1/2 of it! I'm excited!

And the lazy one said workout workout...
This past week..... well I have been bored and so have started to cook more. Like more cookies and brownies and things like that. I haven't weighed myself... but know that this trend isn't good. I need to find healthy and inexpensive things to cook! :) I hope you are all staying more dilligent in your workouts! It's a new week. And I'm determined to do better.
Oh one of my favorite people ever in the health world is Zonya. And she said that you need to start with even just 5 minutes each day for 5 days a week. And then do it for 5 weeks. You can do 15 minutes or whatever you are comfortable with. Anyway... she said that after you did it for 5 weeks and 5 days a week, then add the intensity. She said the most important thing is keeping it a constant. Learning to make it a habit! Anyway... check out her website! She's really practical and awesome! www.zonya.com

Horray for us!
We jogged today! This week we have walked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. About 2.5 miles and then 3.5 the next two days. Today we jogged on the way back (granted it was only 1/3 of a mile)! Huge horrah! I haven't jogged for a year! I am excited to keep this up! We are hoping to be able to jog the whole 3.5 miles by the end of the summer! 5K here we come! Wonder if they have any at the end of the summer?

And the numbers keep dropping!
Today I hopped onto the wii fit to see what my weight was... I was a bit nervous... and I lost 2lbs! Last week I went on a 3 3/4 mile walk and didn't do too much walking other than that. Then yesterday we went on a 2 1/4 mile walk. I was very surprised that the numbers have dropped. Two more lbs to lose this month to hit my monthly goal. I wish I could tell you Marc's progress... but I can't. He's looking thinner, but I don't know his stats. We are going to go walking again tonight. We start up the canyon at the catch basin and then walk to my parents. This requires someone to drop us off. Maybe we'll figure out a different walk or something. Good luck to everyone with your work out goals! :)

Hawaii workout!
Wow can I tell you I found a very effective workout? It's called go to Hawaii with two kids. Between juggling kids and walking about 5 or more miles a day I lost 3 lbs. This is a small number... but compared to the past 2 months this is a huge step! I am so exited! I am down to 194 and my goal is to be under 190 by June 1st. Tonight we also took the jogging stroller out for it's first ride. We walked 3 miles. We started up the canyon and ended up at my parents. I figure 3 miles a day is a very good start to a great workout! My goal is to be in shape to run 5k's next summer. Good luck with all of your work out goals! :)

Our new plan...

Roger wanted us to update... and so drumroll.... I'm updating! Well we didn't do so hot on the Body for Life workout.... the campout killed it! Well we are still working out. We are walking with our kids every day. Marc and others have commented that the walking is working. So my love handles are getting walked away. We have been going up hobble creek canyon and it is beautiful and a lot of fun. Because of all our gunghoe attitude about walking we totally forgot about a meeting we had. So we need to learn to remember other things too. Last week we sold our single jogging stroller and made some money and then we bought a jogging stroller. It's a double and so both kids can go! Last week I took our umbrella stroller and the front carrier and walked to my moms... that was convincing enough that we needed the double stroller. So this Wednesday we'll be walking in style... and walking and walking. We are making progress and I feel better. We'll let you know next week how we are coming along. On the side is a picture of our new stroller! Yeah for double jogging strollers. And they have tripple jogging strollers... I really don't want to need one of those!

Happy day and frustrating day...
So today I felt good and thin. It was a nice feeling. We went walking up the canyon with my family too. Well we came home and did the body testing on wii fit. Well as fate would have it I had gained wait. I am less than what I started, but have gained in the last 3 days. Marc has lost 5 pounds. Can someone please explain how that happens. I have been very strict on what I eat and water intake and all that. Marc was a bit sloppy this past week and ate way more than me. How does he lose 5 pounds and me gain? Sorry I know that is a bit of venting, but it's such a joke. I'm really scared that I won't lose the weight like last time. It took until I was pregnant with kate to lose weight. Anyway... might have something to do with fighting a cold and we did sit Friday out. I wanted to start over, but Marc said a sick day is fine. We did go walking on Sunday. Sunday is a free day. This week we are camping and it will be interesting to see how the results pan out for next week. I really hope they balance out with how I feel.

We've signed up!
Marc and I have decided to take the fitness challenge on the website www.bodyforlife.com and we're excited! It's a site that is free and has tips and healthy eating strategies. One of the tips is to let our friends and family know that we are dedicated to this 12 week body workout and to let you know our beginning stats. I promise these aren't pretty, but it's a great start!
Ok stats from high school first.
Marc: 175 lbs and 6' Size 34
Heidi: 135 lbs and 5' 7" Size 6 (26 in guys)
after mission and college and then marriage and two babies these have changed!
Marc: 217 lbs and 6' Size 36
Heidi: 200 lbs and 5' 7" Size 16 (36 in guys)
Reasonable goals after 12 week challenge:
Marc: 195 lbs and size 34
Heidi: 170's and a size 12 (32 in guys)
We tell you these out of our willingness to change. Not for you to poke fun or blab about them. After 12 weeks of our challenge we want to be fit. Yes lower numbers would be fabulous, but our overall goal is to go hiking and camping and being able to do fun things without getting out of breath. We'll keep you posted on our stats every week and how the challenge is going!
